Babysitting is a big responsibility. Our babysitter training courses help pre teens and teens build the confidence, safety awareness, and practical skills they need to care for younger children and respond appropriately when something goes wrong.
Pasco CPR & First Aid Training offers two babysitter training options, allowing families to choose the format that works best for their student’s schedule and training goals.
Whether your student wants to complete babysitter training and CPR certification together in one comprehensive course or prefers a more flexible blended learning option that can be completed separately from CPR training, we have a pathway for them.
Recommended for ages 11–15.

For families who want their student to complete babysitter training and CPR/AED/First Aid certification together, this comprehensive American Red Cross course combines both programs into one training experience.
Students receive hands on babysitter training covering childcare, safety, emergencies, professionalism, and practical caregiving skills, while also earning their American Red Cross Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
Although this is our most comprehensive option, some of the learning is completed online before class.
The CPR/AED/First Aid portion uses the American Red Cross blended learning format. Students complete approximately 2 hours of required online CPR/AED/First Aid coursework at home before attending class.
This allows students to learn important concepts online at their own pace before coming to class. During the in person portion, we can spend more time practicing skills, working through scenarios, and applying what they learned.
✓ Babysitting responsibilities, safety, and professionalism
✓ Caring for infants and children
✓ Age appropriate activities and behavior management
✓ Feeding, bottle preparation, diapering, and other practical childcare skills
✓ Communicating with parents and gathering important information before a babysitting job
✓ Handling common babysitting challenges and emergencies
✓ Basic business skills for beginning a babysitting business
✓ Adult, child, and infant CPR
✓ AED use
✓ Choking response
✓ First aid and life threatening bleeding response
✓ Hands on emergency scenarios and skill practice
Approximately 2 hours of online learning + approximately 7 hours of in person training
The required online learning is completed before class. Students then attend one comprehensive in person training day that combines American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training with the hands on skills portion of Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED.
Upon successful completion, students receive:
American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training certification
and
American Red Cross Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED digital certification valid for two years
This option is ideal for students who:
✓ Want to complete babysitter training and CPR/AED/First Aid certification together
✓ Enjoy interactive, hands on learning
✓ Are comfortable participating in a longer in person training day
✓ Want extensive opportunities for instructor guided practice and scenarios
✓ Prefer completing their full babysitter and emergency preparedness training in one course.
A full day of classroom training isn't the best learning environment for every student.
Our Flexible Blended Babysitter Training option is designed for students and families who would benefit from greater scheduling flexibility or a learning format that allows students to work through more of the material at their own pace.
Using the HSI Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) blended learning program, students complete approximately 2 hours of their babysitter education online before attending a shorter instructor led skills session.
Instead of completing babysitter training and CPR/AED/First Aid certification during one long day, families can split the training into two separate courses and select dates that work for their schedule.
Some students thrive during a full day of hands on classroom instruction. Others learn better when information is presented in shorter sessions and they have more control over the pace of their learning.
The flexible format may be especially helpful for students who:
✓ Prefer to learn at their own pace
✓ Have difficulty maintaining focus during a full day of classroom instruction
✓ Benefit from shorter periods of focused learning
✓ Like being able to pause and process information before continuing
✓ Have busy school, sports, or extracurricular schedules
✓ Would rather complete babysitter training and CPR certification on separate days
For students with ADHD, attention challenges, or simply a preference for shorter learning sessions, this format can provide another way to approach the material without requiring them to absorb an entire day of training at once.
The goal isn't less training. It's providing the training in a different format that may help some students stay engaged and retain important safety information more effectively.
Part 1: Babysitter Training
Students complete the online portion of the HSI Child and Babysitting Safety course at their own pace, followed by a shorter instructor led session focused on practical skills, discussion, and application.
Part 2: Optional CPR/AED/First Aid Certification
The Optional CPR/AED/First Aid is registered for separately. Families can choose from our available certification class dates, allowing students to complete their lifesaving skills training on another day rather than adding several more hours to their babysitter training course.
Students who register for our HSI Child and Babysitting Safety course will receive a special participant discount for a future Adult & Pediatric CPR/AED/First Aid certification course.
The HSI CABS course is $85. With the participant discount on a CPR/AED/First Aid total cost for both courses will be $150.
This gives families the same bundled value as our comprehensive Red Cross Babysitter + CPR/AED/First Aid course, with the added flexibility of completing the two courses on separate dates.
Your CPR discount code and instructions for registering for a CPR/AED/First Aid course will be provided when you complete your HSI CABS course registration.
Students who want quality babysitter training but would benefit from more self paced learning, shorter in person sessions, or the flexibility to divide babysitter and CPR training across separate days.
