Quality babysitter training with a more flexible way to learn!
Our HSI Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) program helps students develop the knowledge, practical skills, and confidence needed to become safe, responsible babysitters.
This blended learning course combines self-paced online education with a shorter, instructor-led, hands-on classroom session. Students complete their foundational learning online before class, then join us in person to practice important skills, discuss real-world babysitting situations, and apply what they've learned.
Every student learns differently, and every family has a different schedule!
This program is a great option for students who:
Prefer shorter classroom sessions rather than a full day of training.
Benefit from learning at their own pace, with opportunities to pause, take breaks, and review information.
May find it challenging to maintain focus during a full day of traditional classroom instruction.
Have busy school, sports, extracurricular, or family schedules.
Already hold a current CPR/AED/First Aid certification and only need babysitter training.
Want the flexibility to complete babysitter training and CPR/AED/First Aid certification on separate dates.
Students still receive the required HSI CABS education and hands-on skill practice, just in a format that offers greater flexibility.
Part 1: Online Babysitter Training
Approximately 2 hours, completed before class.
Students complete their assigned HSI Child and Babysitting Safety online learning at home, at their own pace.
Online learning instructions will be emailed approximately 1 week before the scheduled class. The online portion must be successfully completed before attending the in-person training.
Part 2: In-Person Babysitter Training
Sunday, November 15 | 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM
Students will participate in an interactive, instructor-led session focused on hands-on practice, skill development, group discussions, and realistic babysitting situations.
Please reserve the full 2.5-hour class window. Actual class duration may vary depending on participation, questions, and skill practice.
The HSI Child and Babysitting Safety program introduces students to the responsibilities of caring for children and prepares them for common situations they may encounter while babysitting.
Topics include:
Babysitting responsibilities and professionalism
Childcare and age-appropriate supervision
Safety and injury prevention
Recognizing emergencies and knowing when to get help
Basic first aid awareness and selected hands-on safety skills
Communicating with parents and understanding family expectations
Babysitting business basics and preparing for babysitting opportunities
$85 per student includes:
HSI CABS online learning assignment
Required course materials
Instructor-led, hands-on classroom training
HSI Child and Babysitting Safety certification upon successful completion
CPR/AED/First Aid certification is NOT included in the $85 registration fee. You may register for that seperately.
Babysitter training pairs especially well with CPR/AED/First Aid certification!
Families hiring a babysitter often appreciate knowing that the person caring for their children has completed hands-on training in CPR, AED use, choking response, and first aid.
Students who register for HSI Child and Babysitting Safety will receive a special discount code toward one of our standalone American Red Cross Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED blended learning classes.
Complete both programs for a total investment of $150!
Families can choose the schedule that works best for them:
Complete babysitter training and CPR/AED/First Aid on separate dates.
Complete both courses on the same day when our class schedule allows.
Both courses use blended learning, allowing students to complete the required online education before attending their respective hands-on sessions.
Your CPR discount code and registration instructions will be provided after you register for HSI CABS.
Please note that CPR/AED/First Aid requires separate registration and is not automatically reserved when registering for CABS.
